Education and Career Development

IHPI/MICHR K Writing Workshop: The Michigan Institute for Clinical & Health Research (MICHR) K Writing Workshop is a structured three-part program designed to assist early career faculty and fellows who are preparing competitive career development grant applications (NIH and VA CDA). 

IHPI/CHOP K Mock Study Section Program: In collaboration with the Center for Healthcare Outcomes and Policy (CHOP), IHPI offers a Mock Study Section Program to provide structured feedback to IHPI early and mid-level career faculty members on their K-series or VA-equivalent career development award proposals and R01 proposals.

IHPI Transition to First R01 Workshop: This three-part workshop helps early-career faculty who are in the beginning stages of developing their first R01 or R01-equivalent proposal. 

IHPI Early Career Faculty Writing Accountability Groups (WAG): This six-month program is designed to help early career faculty with their writing goals. 

IHPI R01 Boot Camp: This multi-tiered mentoring program is designed to help IHPI early career faculty develop and submit their first R01 proposal. 

IHPI Peer Mentor Groups: Designed to help IHPI members identify and connect with other faculty around themes/topics of mutual interest. The groups aim to promote professional and personal networking opportunities, provide a forum to discuss career and professional development, and foster a community of support.

Impact Accelerator Policy and Communications Training Program: This multi-day training program aims to help IHPI members expand the reach and visibility of their work in order to make meaningful contributions to health policy and practice discussions, debates, and decisions.

Early Career Faculty Advisory Council: This council represents the interests of early-career faculty and advises IHPI leadership on how to best leverage its resources to promote the success of early-career faculty and accelerate the impact of their research. With support from IHPI staff, the FAC sponsors interest groups and social networking activities as well as the Emerging Scholars Exchange Program and the Early Career Faculty Development Workshop.

Emerging Scholars Exchange Program: This program is designed to provide career development opportunities for early career faculty via invited presentations at prestigious peer universities. 

Research Seminar Series: The IHPI Research Seminar Series is a lecture-based program designed to share innovative health services research topics, studies, and programs with an audience primarily comprised of clinicians, faculty, research staff, and students from a variety of disciplines.

Career Development Office Hour Series: Career development sessions designed to share career and professional development topics with early and mid-career faculty. 

Online Course: Impacting the Opioid Crisis - Prevention, Education, and Practice for Non-Prescribing Providers: This free, self-paced open learning course is designed to help non-prescribing healthcare, behavioral health, dental and social services professionals understand every facet of the opioid crisis.
