IHPI Aging Research Network
Building on the success of the National Poll on Healthy Aging, in fall 2021 IHPI launched the Aging Research Network to help connect a wide range of IHPI members doing work that impacts the lives of older adults, including research on Medicare, long-term care, health care utilization, and health conditions that particularly affect older adults. Members share and receive announcements about resources, events, policy engagement opportunities, funding opportunities, and recent publications related to aging research. The group may also organize aging-focused research seminars or other events to promote collaboration among members.
If you are interested in joining the IHPI Aging Research Network, please contact Erica Solway (esolway@umich.edu).
Michigan Program on Value Enhancement (MPrOVE)
Research Network & Innovation to Implementation Lab
The Michigan Program on Value Enhancement (MPrOVE) focuses on improving quality and demonstrating the value of care at Michigan Medicine, while at the same time catalyzing collaborative research efforts to inform state and national policy decisions. MPrOVE brings together IHPI experts in research, design, management, and clinical care to support transformative approaches in evaluation and implementation through the lens of appropriateness.
The MPrOVE Innovation to Implementation (i2i) Lab helps IHPI members develop, enhance, and disseminate research on improving healthcare value and appropriateness, and also provide connections with health system partners (Michigan Medicine and external) to collaborate on pilot projects. Monthly lab meetings occur on the fourth Tuesday of each month from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the North Campus Research Complex (NCRC).
Click here to view the full schedule, RSVP for upcoming labs, and, if interested, apply to present work/research at a future lab.
Two goals of the i2i Lab are to convey strategies to conduct evaluation or behavioral intervention projects in health systems and to connect researchers to health system partners. The goal is to try to surmount the barriers to intervention and implementation work that face even the most skilled health services research teams based at complex Academic Medical Centers.
Topics for lab sessions may include methods consultation, facilitating approaches to using and understanding Michigan Medicine data and matching projects with internal champions, potential funding, dissemination, and policy initiatives.
Join the MPrOVE Research Network email list to receive information about the i2i labs and other value/appropriateness-related events and funding opportunities. Please contact Emma Steppe.
Telehealth Research Incubator & Network
Launched through funding from the MPrOVE Research Innovation Challenge, the Telehealth Research Incubator (TRI) leverages collective expertise from U-M clinicians and scientists to rigorously evaluate federal/state telehealth policies, institutional programs, and interventions on four specific outcomes: cost, quality, access, and patient experience. TRI partners with IHPI faculty, health systems, professional organizations, researchers, and government agencies to further the research on, and impact of, telehealth.
We are currently in the process of expanding the scope of the Telehealth Research Incubator and Research Network, and would love to work with you!
Our current collaborators include faculty from Michigan Medicine, the School of Nursing, the School of Public Health, the Ross School of Business, the College of Engineering, the Center for Evaluating Health Reform, and the Survey Research Center. TRI also has access to large Medicare and commercial payer databases (Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Optum, Marketscan) to conduct telehealth policy analyses.
