For our members, the Institute serves as a virtual and physical home for 650+ faculty across 15 U-M schools and colleges on the Ann Arbor campus and several units on the Flint and Dearborn campuses, and more than two dozen affiliated health services research-focused U-M centers and programs.
Our members are part of a large, vibrant community of interdisciplinary professionals from the three U-M campuses studying how health care works and how it can be improved to help inform policy and practice.

IHPI members have guided access to our repository of more than 20 terabytes of data on 113 million Americans with various forms of insurance, and other data resources. Our Data & Methods Hub team can also assist with project planning and analytical methods.
IHPI offers expert health services research-focused writing support and related services to help IHPI members develop successful grant proposals.
Education & Training
IHPI facilitates a wide array of Education & Training opportunities for faculty, including an RO1 Boot Camp and K Award Writing Workshop.
IHPI knows the power of collaboration, and we give members access to a range of events and programs organized or co-sponsored by IHPI where you can connect with other faculty with similar interests.
IHPI offers its members a broad array of communication support to disseminate research findings to external and internal stakeholders.
IHPI’s Policy Engagement and External Relations team, with staff in Washington, DC and Ann Arbor, provides members with tools and resources to help them reach the right audiences and inform health policy and practice.
