Dr. Shore’s primary research interests focus on issues around appropriate therapy use in patients with cardiovascular disease, particularly with congestive heart failure. Her work has used mixed methods to identify optimal practice patterns that promote appropriate use and increase medication adherence with oral anticoagulants in patients with atrial fibrillation. She is also interested in using similar methods to explore use patterns for durable left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) in patients with end stage heart failure across various sites and identify patient selection strategies associated with improved survival and fewer complications. Dr. Shore is also using qualitative methods to explore how medication costs impact shared decision making around beneficial but expensive medications used in treatment for heart failure.
