IHPI’s Policy Engagement & External Relations (PEER) team assists IHPI members who seek to have a greater impact on health policy and practice through their research. We offer members advice, strategies, and tools around policy engagement. Specifically, we can help you to:

Effectively communicate your research: Translate your findings and outline policy options
Identify and connect with the right audiences: Connect with policymakers, associations, professional societies, insurers, and other stakeholders
Disseminate your findings: Develop targeted dissemination plans and outreach strategies to share your findings and expertise
Advise you on policy-relevant products: Develop one-pagers and policy briefs that are engaging and easy to digest (joint IHPI Policy Engagement/Communications effort)
Elevate your expertise: Identify opportunities such as fellowships and advisory committees at the local, state, and federal levels and policy-related events
Engage with Policy Audiences: Prepare for policy meetings and testimony, get advice on commenting on policy proposals, and more

The Policy Engagement Interest Group, launched in June 2026, brings together IHPI members who would like to stay informed about policy discussions and opportunities at the state and federal levels, engage with policy audiences, and connect with IHPI peers with policy interests.

Policy Brief Open Call

Do you want to translate your policy or practice-relevant research into something external stakeholders and decisionmakers will read and use, but you aren’t sure where to start? Apply to work with us to produce a polished IHPI policy brief that translates your findings to maximize their reach!

If you have an accepted or recently published manuscript with timely, policy-relevant findings, IHPI can help distill your research and get it into the hands of key stakeholders and decisionmakers. Selected applicants will work with IHPI’s policy engagement and graphic design experts to turn timely insights into a compelling, professionally designed IHPI policy brief – at no cost to you except your time.
