As an educator and researcher, Dr. Strecher’s expertise is in the areas of the science and psychology of healthy personal change for both individuals and large populations. His research and writings are related to the importance of developing and maintaining a strong purpose in life for improved health and emotional wellbeing. Dr. Strecher was the founding director of the U-M Center for Health Communications Research (CHCR), a collaborative research-focused organization of health and behavioral scientists, educators, software engineers, and artists. Through CHCR, Dr. Strecher was a leading investigator on a multitude of grant-funded studies of computer-based interactive communications for health-related behavior change and decision-making.
