Dr. Langa’s research focuses on the epidemiology and costs of chronic disease in older adults, with an emphasis on Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. He is studying the relationship of common cardiovascular risk factors, as well as acute illnesses such as sepsis and stroke, to cognitive decline and dementia. Additionally, Dr. Langa’s research involves examining the relationship between cardiovascular risk factors and cognitive decline and dementia in middle-aged and older adults. He also conducts aging and dementia surveys in many countries around the world. Dr. Langa is also Associate Director of the U-M Health and Retirement Study, and Co-Director of the IHPI-ISR Health Economics and Public Policy (HEPP) Program. He is also a member of the IHPI Institute Leadership Team (ILT).
