Harnessing comprehensive perioperative patient registries to improve quality of care and educate caregivers and guide healthcare administration.
Based at the University of Michigan, MPOG is a non-profit academic consortium of more than 50 medical centers aggregating large volumes of inpatient electronic health record (EHR) data, patient reported outcomes, and long term administrative outcomes to improve patient care by developing the necessary policies, procedures, and technical infrastructure required for multicenter perioperative outcomes research.
MPOG uses electronic health record and administrative data to analyze the interplay between patient comorbidities, surgical procedure, perioperative care, interventions, and postoperative outcomes. By combining data with a culture of collaboration, MPOG creates an environment of performance improvement and research using priorities driven by its members. More than 12 million anesthetic cases integrated across 50 hospitals represent the most comprehensive and detailed global perioperative anesthesiology registry.
