New COVID-19 decision modeling initiative with funding opportunities will help inform responses to the pandemic.
A new COVID-19 decision modeling initiative will award 6-10 grants of up to $50,000 each to organizations researching coronavirus decision models.
The Society of Medical Decision Making (SMDM), the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, Johns Hopkins University, Duke University, and the University of Michigan have teamed up to assemble a knowledge base to connect the needs of diverse decision makers to evidence-based decision models which can inform timely response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The new Initiative builds on this work to deepen the connections, technical knowhow, and directed activity to inform clinical, health services delivery, and policy decision making related to COVID-19.
SMDM’s COVID-19 Modeling Special Committee is led by SMDM President Dr. Lisa Prosser, professor of pediatrics, U-M Medical School, along with Drs. Gillian Sanders Schmidler from Duke University and Kathy McDonald from Johns Hopkins University.
Applications for high impact decision modeling grants will be accepted starting May 18, 2020 through June 30, 2020 and award decisions will be made on a rolling basis.
