IHPI has become one of the first academic institutions to sign on with Truveta, a company that compiles data based on electronic health records from millions of patients across the nation.
Faculty and teams who belong to IHPI will soon have a rich new source of health care data to mine for discoveries about health care delivery, quality, equity and the impact of changes in health policy.
IHPI has become one of the first academic institutions to sign on with Truveta, a company that compiles and provides access to data based on electronic health records from millions of patients across the nation.
Truveta’s data includes full EHR data collected from clinician notes, images, and structured data from more than 30 health systems, linked with claims, social determinants of health, and mortality data. The daily updated data comes from more than 100 million de-identified patients across the U.S., from more than 800 hospitals and 20,000 clinics, regardless of insurance status.
Access to Truveta’s portal for researchers, called Truveta Studio, will be managed through the IHPI Data & Methods Hub, led by Patrick Brady, M.H.A.
“This new source of EHR data represents a valuable addition to the sources of health data that we make available to the more than 700 U-M faculty who belong to IHPI, for use in their research on many aspects of health care and the impacts of health policies,” said Brady. “We are always seeking new ways to help our members expand their research across patient populations and conditions, and welcome inquiries from members who might be interested in seeing what Truveta might make possible for them.”
