Dr. Wang serves as director of burn surgery at U-M’s Burn Center and director of the State of Michigan Burn Coordinating Center for Mass Casualty Incidents. His research explores traumatic injury assessment and treatment. Through his research on automotive crash injuries, he founded the novel field of analytic morphomics, which utilizes computational techniques and medical imaging to identify biomarkers that provide insights into injuries, treatment options, and outcome variability. Wang and his multidisciplinary team of researchers translate analytic morphomic findings into personalized medical and surgical care, as well as share knowledge with automotive engineers to improve their understanding of the variability of a population in order to better protect individuals in motor vehicle crashes.
