Recently, there has been a growing amount of discussion within many professional societies and even the lay press on statistical significance, the p-value and how it relates to research. As a continuation of these conversations, the University of Michigan Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation (IHPI) in collaboration with the Applied Biostatistical Sciences (ABS) Network will be hosting an informal panel talk with Dr. Regina Nuzzo, Professor at Gallaudet University. Professor Nuzzo has been actively involved with the American Statistical Association’s statement on p-values and received the ASA's 2014 Excellence in Statistical Reporting Award. Her work is featured in the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, ESPN the Magazine, Reader's Digest, Scientific American, New Scientist, Science News, and Nature.
Accompanying Professor Nuzzo will be a panel of IHPI members who encompass a diverse range of research interests and viewpoints relating to statistical significance and the p-value, including clinical, methodological, and statistical perspectives. IHPI panel members include:
