Brenner, Buckenmeyer, Farris, James, Lapidos, Woodworth inducted into the National Academies of Practice
Six IHPI members — Michael Brenner, M.D., Amy Buckenmeyer, Ph.D., RN, Karen Farris, Ph.D, Cornelius James, M.D., Adrienne Lapidos, Ph.D., and Jillian Woodworth, Dr.OT — are among 12 U-M faculty inducted into the National Academies of Practice (NAP) as Distinguished Fellows during a recent ceremony in Indianapolis, as part of the Annual NAP Meeting and Forum.
Chua elected to American Society for Clinical Investigation
Kao-Ping Chua, M.D. Ph.D., associate professor of pediatrics and director of the Susan B. Meister Child Health Evaluation and Research (CHEAR), recently received notice of his election to the American Society for Clinical Investigation. Each year, the ASCI Council considers membership nominations of several hundred physician-scientists and recommends up to 100 candidates for election based on outstanding scholarly achievement.
Harper, Song named as 2025 AAAS Fellows
Diane Harper, M.D., M.P.H., M.S., professor of family medicine, and Peter Song, Ph.D., professor of biostatistics, are among 15 U-M faculty members who have been named as 2025 fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the world’s largest general scientific society. In all, AAAS announced 449 members of the 2025 class, elected for their "efforts toward advancing science applications that are deemed scientifically or socially distinguished."
Hill honored by AcademyHealth
CHEAR fellow and IHPI National Clinician Scholar Nina Hill, M.D., has been awarded the AcademyHealth Child Health Services Research Outstanding Postdoctoral/Clinical Scholar Award. She will be recognized at the AcademyHealth Annual Research Meeting in Seattle, Wash., on May 30.
Ibrahim named 2026 Health Datapalooza co-chair
Andrew M. Ibrahim, M.D., M.Sc., associate professor of surgery, will serve as a co-chair of AcademyHealth's 2026 Health Datapalooza. The conference convenes public and private sector leaders to accelerate high-impact, data-driven health care innovation.
Martin appointed to Michigan's Public Health Advisory Council
Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer appointed Emily Martin, Ph.D., M.P.H., professor of public health, to the State of Michigan Public Health Advisory Council. The Council provides advice about emerging issues in public health, monitors the effectiveness of Michigan’s public health response system, and reviews multiagency efforts to support a collaborative, unified public health response.
