The University of Michigan Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation is offering U-M alumni an open-learner version of the Understanding and Improving the U.S. Healthcare System online course.
Since 2016, over 5,000 U-M learners have participated in this six-module course, which draws upon the expertise of over 20 IHPI faculty members. A series of video-based lectures, interviews, and podcasts introduce learners to the main topics related to the historically complex U.S. healthcare system, including:
- Introduction to U.S. Healthcare
- U.S. Presidents & the Politics of Healthcare Reform
- Behavioral Health Policy and Services
- Cost, Quality, and Access to Care
- Health Equity
- Diabetes in U.S. Healthcare
Alumni interested in taking the course will be placed in a special section of the U-M Canvas learning platform with full access to all course materials and not be required to complete any assignments. The content takes about 5 to 6 hours to complete, and learners can pace themselves as they see fit.
