Dr. Merz is a hematologist whose research aims to address health equity concerns in women's health-- specifically optimizing outcomes in sickle cell disease throughout the female lifespan and implementing iron deficiency detection and replacement strategies for the menstruating and pregnant population. She also has expertise in absolute neutrophil counts and the Duffy null phenotype and impact on clinical care such as clinical trial eligibility and systemic anticancer treatment administration.
