Dr. Veinot is interested in the potential of health informatics interventions to improve the health of marginalized groups and reduce health disparities. Her research is concerned with conceptualizing, developing, and evaluating “community health informatics” interventions, which use information systems to address health disparities that emerge from socioeconomic marginalization, exposures to health risks, health-related vulnerabilities, and unequal consequences of illness. To do this, interventions focus on: (1) social and community networks; (2) living and working conditions; and (3) health systems.
