Dr. Saran’s health services research focuses on chronic kidney disease (CKD) including its early detection, its link with cardiovascular disease, slowing disease progression and improving quality of care for this population; end-stage renal disease (ESRD); clinical trials, particularly to reduce cardiovascular risk in those with CKD as well as to slow kidney disease progression. He is an associate director of the U-M Kidney Epidemiology and Cost Center (U-M KECC).
