As a biostatistician, Dr. Zhang’s work crosses many medical domains, including cardiovascular surgery outcomes, kidney transplants, healthcare-acquired infectious diseases, genomics, and clinical trials. Her collaborative research is mainly in the area of cardiovascular disease, focusing on understanding variation in healthcare practices and quality improvement, as well as evaluating the effect and impact of clinical practices and patient characteristics in terms of clinical outcomes and health cost. Another main area of her applied research is in renal disease and solid-organ transplantation.
