Dr. Heung’s primary clinical and research interests are in the areas of acute kidney injury (AKI) and critical care nephrology. As an investigator at the University of Michigan Kidney Epidemiology and Cost Center (UM-KECC), he examines AKI measures and outcomes on multiple federally-funded projects including the United States Renal Data System (USRDS), the Veterans Affairs Kidney Disease Registry, and the CDC Chronic Kidney Disease Surveillance System.
