Dr. Mody's translational research agenda is focused on a vulnerable elderly population, particularly within long-term care settings. Her work has created a consortium of skilled nursing facilities in SE Michigan interested in learning ways to enhance infection prevention in a traditionally resource-poor setting. Additional research includes evaluating a multi-modal targeted infection-prevention (TIP) intervention to prevent resistant organisms and infections in long-term care residents with indwelling devices, and another study is attempting to define the complex relationship between antimicrobial resistance, healthcare worker and family member contamination, environmental contamination, and functional disability in skilled nursing facilities.
