Dr. Elafros' research focuses on reducing the burden of neurologic diseases and improving access to quality neurologic care for resource-limited populations via epidemiologic, clinical, and health services research. Her NINDS K23 research, the Flint Neuropathy Study, focuses on the prevalence, risk factors, and management of neuropathy and neuropathic pain in Flint, Michigan. She is also PI of the Zambian Cohort of Health Aging and Dementia (Z-CHAD), which is a population-based prevalence study of dementia and associated risk factors in Lusaka, Zambia.
