Dr. Lapedis' mission is to rethink the way pathology results are communicated to patients and clinicians to better support health equity, high-quality decision making, patient safety, and overall quality of care. Her background is in public health, health services research, and anatomic pathology, and she is fellowship-trained in medical renal, surgical, and gastrointestinal pathology. Dr. Lapedis has completed foundational work on the attitudes of patients, pathologists, and clinicians towards patient-pathologist interactions, and is currently piloting early interventions in patient-centered pathology communication tools, as well as running the first pathology explanation clinic service for Veterans.
