Dr. Hider's research focuses on how health policy, payment reform and health care delivery shape outcomes, spending and equity in cardiac and surgical care. Using national claims data, clinical registries and qualitative methods, he aims to develop evidence that strengthens health care quality, value and accountability. He is a National Clinician Scholar at IHPI and a general surgery resident at the University of Colorado, with plans to pursue a career in academic cardiothoracic surgery. His work has been published in JAMA Surgery, JAMA Health Forum and the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. His prior policy experience includes service with The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, and he has been recognized as a Lindau Young Scientist and a National Minority Quality Forum 40 Under 40 Leader in Minority Health.
