Sachin Kheterpal, M.D., M.B.A., associate professor of anesthesiology, has been appointed as Associate Dean for Research Information Technology. In his new leadership role in the Medical School Office of Research, Dr. Kheterpal will be responsible for establishing the vision and strategy to effectively use information technology (IT) to advance the research mission.
Working closely with Health Information Technology and Services (HITS), Michigan Institute for Clinical & Health Research (MICHR), departmental leadership, and other research and informatics teams from across the Medical School, Dr. Kheterpal will establish research IT priorities and help ensure competitive positioning for the future. He will coordinate centralized research IT efforts with departmental points of distributed innovation and champion the use of IT to differentiate Michigan Medicine in securing extramural funding, establishing industry partnerships, and attracting and retaining top faculty, staff, and students. Additionally, he will serve as a liaison to U-M campus research IT leadership to maximize the research impact of an integrated U-M computing environment.
