Harris elected to the National Academy of Medicine
Lisa Harris, M.D., Ph.D., is one of three newly elected U-M members of the National Academy of Medicine, recognized for her "major contributions to the advancement of the medical sciences, health care and public health." She joins 83 other current, former and late U-M faculty who have earned this distinction.
Bicket receives prestigious anesthesiology scholar award
Mark Bicket, M.D., Ph.D., associate professor of anesthesiology, has been honored with the 2025 American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) James E. Cottrell, MD, Presidential Scholar Award. This prestigious award is presented annually to one physician-scientist worldwide who has dedicated their early career to impactful research. Bicket received this honor at the ASA Annual Meeting. He currently leads multiple NIH- and PCORI-funded studies and has provided expertise and guidance nationally on pain and opioid issues.
Lapidos and Wolfe receive interprofessional education excellence award
The IHPI Education and Career Development team, led by Adrienne Lapidos, Ph.D., clinical associate professor of psychiatry, and Jason Wolfe, program manager for education and career development, received the Award for IPE Excellence from the U-M Center for Interprofessional Practice & Education for their work on updating the "Understanding and Improving the US Healthcare System" course. The award is given to an individual or team in recognition of excellence in education and curriculum development, organizational change, team-based collaborative practice and/or interprofessional practice and education scholarship.
Lapidos and Wolfe collaborated for over a year to prepare for the new course launch by producing 29 new videos, curating podcasts from an array of interdisciplinary health policy resources, developing IPE discussion board activities, and creating new case studies for the course. Understanding and Improving the US Healthcare System is now a required course for all first-year medical, dental, and pharmacy students, and is offered as a 1-credit elective to other students via the School of Public Health (PUBHLTH 626). It is also offered as an on-demand course for U-M faculty, staff, and alumni.
