Prosser Wins National Mentoring Award
Lisa Prosser, Ph.D., M.S., professor of pediatrics and associate vice president for research-health sciences, received the 2025 AcademyHealth Child Health Services Research Interest Group Outstanding Mentor Award. She has mentored over 25 doctoral students, 16 post-docs, and numerous faculty members. Her research focuses on measuring the comparative effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of childhood health interventions using methods of decision sciences and economics.
Barnes appointed to associate vice chair role
Geoffrey Barnes, M.D., M.Sc., associate professor of internal medicine, has been appointed associate vice chair of health services research in the Department of Internal Medicine at the Medical School. Barnes has led implementation science efforts aimed at enhancing patient care through the use of antithrombotic medications. Currently, he serves as co-director of the Michigan Anticoagulation Quality Improvement Initiative (MAQI2) and Michigan Program on Value Enhancement (MPrOVE), and as the fellowship director for the Vascular Medicine fellowship program.
Osborne to lead BMC2 Quality Collaborative
Nicholas Osborne, M.D., M.S., associate professor of surgery, has been named director of the Collaborative Quality Initiative BMC2, effective October 1, 2025. He succeeds Hitinder Gurm, M.D., who will serve as chair of a new BMC2 Executive Board. Osborne has expertise in complex statistical methods and using large databases to examine variation in the care and the quality of care in the United States.
