IHPI’s Data and Methods Hub is bringing together users of the CMS Medicare Advantage (MA) Encounter data together to discuss best practices, common pitfalls, and making the most of the MA data for health services research. Both faculty and staff are welcome to join. This will be a technical discussion, led by analysts who are using the data.
Dr. Chiang-Hua Chang will focus on using inpatient claims for identifying cardiac surgery and infections after surgery during the index hospitalization:
- Identifying acute care and critical access hospitals
- Final action claims vs. chart review records in identifying infections and Elixhauser comorbidities
