The peer mentor groups are designed to help IHPI members identify and connect with other faculty around themes/topics of mutual interest. The groups aim to promote professional and personal networking opportunities, provide a forum to discuss career and professional development, and foster a community of support. Current peer groups include:
Ph.D. Faculty Peer Mentor Group: Designed for IHPI Ph.D. faculty members across different schools who are interested in connecting with others around issues specific to Ph.D. faculty. The intent of this group is to provide a forum for Ph.D. faculty to obtain peer support, guidance, and discuss issues related to career and personal development (e.g., promotion, work-life balance, research vs. teaching balance, networking). These issues may vary for Ph.D. faculty in medicine/clinical departments and other departments.
Early Career Faculty Peer Network Group: This pilot initiative for the 2026–2027 academic year is designed to help early-career IHPI faculty members connect with colleagues, share experiences, and troubleshoot common challenges in a supportive peer environment. Participants will be placed into peer groups and meet monthly for one-hour sessions from October 2026 through June 2027. Meetings will provide time for networking and peer problem-solving around topics such as grant writing, manuscripts, mentoring, collaboration, time management, work-life integration, and navigating academic careers.
Other groups may be added based on interest.
