This talk will discuss how the MBNQA (Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award) criteria can provide an important set of quality management dimensions to achieve organizational performance excellence and to overcome issues of healthcare quality measures. These criteria were studied in large Indian hospitals to determine if the relationship proposed by the MBNQA criteria existed in the marketplace. The system criteria of MBNQA include leadership; strategic planning; customer focus; measurement, analysis, and knowledge management; workforce focus; process management; and results.
Prof D’Souza will also discuss how measurements of good health governance could be encouraged through international awards for ‘best practice’ in ‘good health management.’
