Dr. Chen focuses on developing predictive models for the treatment of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), which affects 30% of adults in the United States. Through analyses of large medical claims databases, he aims to create risk stratification tools to help clinicians more easily identify patients at the highest risk of NAFLD progression who may benefit from aggressive intervention, as well as find those at low risk for whom resource-intensive monitoring and therapy may not be necessary.
