Dr. Peitzmeier’s health services research focuses on access to care for transgender patients, particularly cervical cancer screening and preventive screening in transmasculine individuals. Her work has quantified disparities in cancer screening utilization, identified specific barriers to care, and tested interventions to reduce these disparities. She also studies gender-based violence in LGBTQ and other marginalized populations. Dr. Peitzmeier is collaborating with the Michigan Domestic and Sexual Violence Prevention and Treatment Board to answer questions about the impact of stay-at-home policies amid the COVID-19 pandemic on rates of intimate partner violence and the ability of survivors to access services.
