Dr. Harlan’s research focuses on improving care delivery and clinician decision-making in the intensive care unit. Her most recent work focuses on understanding rural critical care outcomes and how rural critical care delivery can be improved. Additionally, she focuses on exploring bioethical issues in the intensive care unit, including understanding how physicians make decisions about allocating scarce medical resources.
