Machine learning and healthcare informatics in eye care

Dr. Nallasamy’s research is focused on the development of computational methods to address difficult clinical challenges in ophthalmology (medical and surgical eye care). Using a combination of medical informatics and machine learning, Dr. Nallasamy’s group takes on difficult problems in ophthalmology such as the preoperative selection of lens implant power for cataract surgery, automated identification of cancers from ocular imaging studies, and development of automated surgical performance assessment and guidance systems.
