Dr. Sandberg's research activities are closely linked to his clinical service; in particular, his research group examines the psychosocial adaptation of persons born with disorders of sex development (DSD), and their families. He is also working to develop a web-based tool to help parents and their child’s providers arrive at evidence-based, balanced, and fully informed decisions when considering genital surgery in young children with DSD. Dr. Sandberg has also developed a psycho-educational treatment manual for clinicians caring for newborns with congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) identified by newborn screen, as well as a web-based platform for both providers and parents of newborns/young children with CAH.
