Science Diction: Thermometer
IHPI member and Director of the Center for the History of Medicine, Howard Markel, M.D., Ph.D., recently published an article about the invention of the thermometer.
The article examines the origins of the word "thermometer", as well as the individuals who made contributions to its creation and use throughout history. The thermometer's history includes notable names such as Galileo Galilei, Sir Isaac Newton, Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit, and Anders Celsius.
