Looking to learn how to process Medicare claims data for your health services research projects? Join us for this 6-week, instructor-led course where Rod Dunn, Urology HSR Analytic Core Director, will teach you how to utilize SAS to process this data, learning tips and techniques on how to handle large, administrative claims data.
This course will be ideal for those that have a basic understanding of SAS and want to learn how to get started with Medicare data analyses. From learning the structure and definitions of the data and exploring the files, to building cohorts that meet the needs of your research, to creating outcomes, windows, and episodes, this course will cover all the basics to get you started (or serve as a refresher) on your large data analyses, utilizing Medicare synthetic files to truly get a handle on proper techniques.
- This is not a statistics course, so some basic statistical knowledge is assumed.
- Lectures will build on each other, so it is recommended that students attend all lectures. Sessions will be recorded and available for viewing after each lecture.
- A computer with SAS installed will be necessary to complete the course
This course is open to faculty, staff, and trainees.
