Dr. Papaleontiou will present "Thyroid hormone replacement: Challenges and complexities."
This talk will review overall data on the rising trends of thyroid hormone use, thyroid hormone misuse, risks of over- and under-replacement with thyroid hormone, and the influence of patient age on decision making in thyroid hormone management.
Dr. Wu will present "Person-centered and justice-informed translational contraceptive research: Practical and ethical challenges."
Dr. Wu will review bright spots and challenges to conducting translational contraceptive research as an early career investigator. She will discuss her journey developing and pilot testing a contraceptive decision tool for patients with chronic conditions in context of T1-T4 translational research phases. She will describe practical and ethical challenges to this process, and potential solutions grounded in person-centered and justice-informed approaches.
