Dr. Zahuranec’s research interests include clinical aspects of intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), racial/ethnic differences in ICH, the impact of do-not-resuscitate orders on outcome after stroke, prognostic modeling in stroke, end-of-of life decision-making after stroke, and cardioembolic stroke. He is also studying the process of end-of life decision-making in severe ICH, using a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods to better understand how doctors and family members make medical decisions for ICH patients, with an ultimate goal of developing methods to improve this process.
