Dr. Kotagal is a neurologist who conducts clinical research on neurological disorders of aging that cause progressive cognitive and mobility impairments--including Parkinson disease, Alzheimer’s disease, dementias, and other neurodegenerative disorders. His research focuses on the influence of medical comorbidities, patient and provider health behaviors, and early-life protective factors on brain resilience in older individuals at risk for transitioning from normal aging to neurodegenerative disorders. He is also interested in ways to improve the efficiency and impact of clinical trial methods within Parkinson disease and related conditions.
