Dr. Kaye's career has been devoted to prevention and management of healthcare-associated infections. In addition to serving quality improvement and administrative roles in infection prevention, antimicrobial stewardship and quality and patient safety, he has served on national and international clinical guidelines committees. His research focuses on antimicrobial resistance, particularly among gram-negative bacilli; optimizing use of polymyxin antimicrobials; prevention of healthcare associated infections including Clostridium difficile, multi-drug resistant organisms, central-line associated infections and surgical site infections; and innovative approaches to antimicrobial stewardship.
