On Nov. 17, National Institutes of Health director Francis Collins announced the members of a new Advisory Panel that will guide NIH’s Precision Medicine Initiative Cohort Program.
This massive national effort will begin in 2016. It will be a historic study taking volunteers from all walks of life to build a resource that will help scientists answer a wide range of important health questions to improve treatments for a broad range of diseases and to prevent them in the first place.
Sachin Kheterpal, M.D., MBA, an associate professor of anesthesiology and IHPI member, has been named to this advisory panel. This follows his service on a workgroup that created a framework for the cohort program that was presented to Collins earlier this year.
