IHPI members interested in self-management are invited to an informal discussion with Dr. Bambang Parmanto, a Professor of Health Information Management from the University of Pittsburgh with numerous grants related to telehealth and complex care management. Dr. Parmanto will briefly highlight his work, followed by a group discussion of opportunities and challenges facilitating self-management for individuals with complex, chronic conditions and disabilities.
Dr. Bambang Parmanto is Professor of Health Information Management, Computing & Information, and Clinical Translation Science at the University of Pittsburgh. He is the Director of Rehab Engineering Research Center on Information & Communication Technology (ICT) Access and Principal Investigator of a large project on self-management for individuals with chronic and complex conditions using mobile health (mHealth). Dr. Parmanto also leads the Health and Rehabilitation Informatics (HARI) research group at the University of Pittsburgh and is the recipient of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)'s Triumph Research Award. His research interest has been in developing technologies for connected health (tele, mobile, and wearable technologies) to deliver adaptive and personalized health interventions.
